Optimistic Failure

This is just a quick post of a fleeting idea that I have for the new year. Obviously my goal for the school year failed because I chickened out. But I have an idea inspired by a subscription on youtube,  monthly Document Your Life videos. Starting in Janurary I will upload a video monthly on youtube of events that happened in my life that month. So if you haven't subscribed to me on youtube, make sure you do so here.
Later, Bri.

Remember Me?

I would not blame you if you are surprised to see this post. There is literally no excuse for my absence, who would want to hear it anyway. The least I can and will do it post an update.
I joined the Graphic Arts Association at my school. It will serve as practice for when I join journalism next year. So far, I have had the opportunity to photograph a school pep rally. It felt good, being allowed "behind the scenes" and getting a taste of how many photojournalist work.

Speaking of professionals, I recently contacted a photographer and owner of HowRani Studios and he agreed to let me shadow him on his shoots sometimes. I was really excited!

My friend Bushra and I partnered up in project for my english class. The project is on the Harlem Rennesance and we decided to make a movie and interview to go along with out paper. This shall be fun.

Anyway, that has been some of the cool things that have happened recently. I seriously need to make a schedule so I can fit posting on here into my life more often.

*insert greeting here* Ok so a goal I have this school year was to focus more on crafting my skills in photography, writing, and video editing. I've started on that in some aspect by creating my blog. The next step starts the first day of school.

I'm starting a series of the very eclectic fashions that are seen in my school. I will post my fashion favorites and highlights weekly. I'm kind of nervous because this plan of mine involves walking up to random students and asking them to take a picture for my blog. Wish me luck!

Really though, I'm excited and I hope things go on as I've planned in my head. BTW I need a title for this series, any suggestions?

P.S. Heres a sneak peek at how this will go. I took this picture of a peer of mine during the last week of school. The only thing she didn't know I took her picture and we don't even know each other. Hear me out though!! This time I plan on doing thing the "right" way. :))
I love her backpack, cropped pants, flats, jacket, hat...just everything! She really made our uniform her own.

Not so recently I've been set on learning to skateboard. So lo and behold *wink*, on my treck in Hamtramick one weekend in June I see a skateboard shop!! I walk in and am immediately enthralled by everything. In the front of the store is the front desk and shelves of clothes, all mens clothes though. Looking behind the desk I see a wall of boards. They were so colorful , but didn't have wheels. Ok so now I was confused and called an employee. I tell him I want a board and he goes on to tell me the square root of pie. Not literally, but as far as I know he could have been because I didn't understand a word he said. LOL. So I tell him I'm "a super beginner" and ask him to speak in layman skateboard terms. He then explains that a "plain" Chiipss board with a silver axle and regular wheels could be at least 100$! Woah, I know, but before you dismiss this place you have to check it out. I mean, they do have a ramp in the store. How cool is that!? I received a business card with plans to look up the website that was on it. Their website isn't complete but know that I am continuously checking their progress. Does anyone know how to skateboard? Should I get a skateboard or longboard? Any tips for this noob?

Do you ever have those times where you feel very diverse and retro? When I walked into Lo & Behold Records and Books in Hamtramick on Joseph Campou that's how I felt. The place has a vibe about it that can not be ignored. Almost like you're doing something right. I walked in the first time one late afternoon in the winter when my mom was across the street at the nail salon. I remember thinking "This is it" the place I see in my head when I think of old school, chill, books, and music.
After the initial one, my next visit was in the beginning of June. I walked in and was immediately reminded of why I fell in love. Sitting in the display window was a 1960/1970's bike I had been searching for! Being the spaz I am, I had to take a moment to calm myself before I punched something out of excitement *sigh*. Anyway, upon returning home I decided to Google the store and what I found nearly gave me a heart attack. They have a website! It's filled with amazing photography and a news feed with upcoming events at the store. I bless the part of my mind that urged me to search Youtube too because what I found rocked! Literally!
They have a band! 'They' being the owner, Richie, and his two friends. Danny and The Darleans, as the band is called, isn't just some random group of friends who get together occasionally either. They've been featured in many Metro Detroit blogs and have played in some festivals. As you can see this isn't a very informative post, just me sharing my excitement of a recent obsession. But know this, I will learn more!!

Hello I'm Abriana, a sophomore in high school. As I've gotten older I grew to love fashion, beauty, music, and photography. I wanted to find a place where others have similar interests. I came in contact with blogging from Youtube with blogs like Free People    , Curbside Fashion, and a few others. I thought it would be cool to make a living out of something I love. So without further ado, Lets get started!
